Admission to doctoral studies
This information may only be important for students who have been accepted to the program.
We tried to collect all information concerning the registration and enrollment procedure. The admission to the ZIBI Graduate School Berlin does not include the acceptance as a doctoral student at one of the universities. In Germany, only universities are allowed to confer doctoral degrees. Therefore, you will have to apply at one of Berlin's universities. Usually it depends on the affiliation of your supervisor, which one you will choose.
First of all, we have to check the equivalence of non-German degrees. Usually we do this, before you receive a letter of admission to the ZIBI Graduate School. After your arrrival in Berlin, you'll have to fill in the university's application form (together with your supervisor, who has to sign it) and bring it to the ZIBI office together with your original documents (BSc, MSc). We can make certified copies of it and send all to the central office for application of the university. You will receive an admission letter. Please send a copy of it to the ZIBI Graduate School's office (either at HU or MPI). Please bear in mind that it may take up to three weeks until you will receive the admission letter. You will need this admission letter if you want to matriculate at the university.
